One of the most important things to consider when packing food is how you want to sort out and deal with food that’s ready for consumption. These include canned goods, as well as older items. These items might be helpful if you’re still staying in your old home, but they might not be as useful in a move.

Tip #1 Frozen food

If you have a lot of frozen food, it might be a good idea to start eating them throughout your move and don’t get new frozen food unless you’re fully settled in. This helps full freezers with extra meat.

Tip #2 Food about to expire

If you know you have items that are about to expire in a month or two, don’t bother bringing them to your new home. You can prepare to toss them out or prepare them for a big feast before you go to your new home.

Tip #3 Avoid glass containers

Consider buying new items in glass bottles after the move, instead of just putting your glass bottles inside the truck for your travel. That’s because despite how well-packed these items are, glass bottles are still very likely to spill.

Tip #4 Get a cooler

If you want to bring food you want to eat in your new home, consider using a cooler as a storage. This allows you to bring all sorts of food you want without having to put them in the truck. You can just load them into a cooler and bring them with you.

Food can be extra fragile to pack, and as such it needs a bit of extra attention compared to other food items. If you’re looking for more efficient ways to pack your food, you should always put things into perspective. Here are some more tips:

Tip #5 Small boxes

Use small to medium boxes, especially if you’re carrying a lot of canned goods. This helps ensure your packages don’t become too heavy when placing them into your Roadway Movers truck or other movers’ and moving them away.

Tip #6 Cover the tops

Spice shakers that have spices inside of them can be brought along, for as long as you cover the tops with tape so they don’t get spilt while moving.

Tip #7 Fragile items

Prepare your fragile items properly. Your household will likely have more basic things like sugar and flour, but you’ll want to secure them before placing them in boxes. Purchase sealable containers for these before you put them in boxes, as spillage can spell serious trouble for the travel to your new home. If you don’t have the resources for containers, opt for ziplock bag.

Pack your food and other essentials with your new home in mind

When packing your food, always remember your new kitchen and dining room layout. This is important when packing food, as these also help determine how you can position your items around the house to avoid spoilage and for maximum efficiency.

Tip #8 Your new space

When packing, try to consider the space in your new home as well, especially for your kitchen and pantry area. If you have a kitchen without lots of storage space, try to stock up on food with huge packaging such as vinegars and tomato sauces. Likewise, if you have a lot of space going for you, try maximizing the space.

Tip #9 Labelling

Consider labelling your dry and boxed items, and clearly label perishable items as well. You can even separate your canned goods and spices. It helps ensure you take your perishables in mind, and know everything about your items without having to open anything. This helps regardless if you’re hiring professional help such as moving services long distance, or if you’re doing your move DIY.

Hacks to Pack Food: Make Your Food Move Right

With the above tips in mind, it’s important to remember that conducting your move shouldn’t neglect your food, especially if you’re from a household that loves your recipes and ingredients. The items above will hopefully give you some important reminders you can take note of so your food won’t get spoiled during the trip. More importantly, these hacks to pack food also let you maximize your current packing tools in a way that won’t harm your food supplies. Good luck and happy packing!
